hi people. i have had my margies for quite a while now since last year some time, they were juvies when they arrived , and have been waiting patiently until now for them to lay, i know the weather has been awful this year, and i was just wondering if i am jumping the gun in expecting eggs soon?

Yes. I`ve had large Margies for a long time and they`ve only laid once and I lost all the babies unfortunatly. They will lay but don`t hold your breath.... ;D

Give them time Some snails just don't ever seem to show any interest in mating with each other, but they could just be waiting for the right moment If they seem healthy and fairly active, they should be happy - as long as it's nice and warm, humid and damp, they're happy with their tank setup (somewhere to hide, plenty of deep substrate etc) and you don't disturb them too frequently, hopefully they will lay some eggs before long My youngest margie was bought as a juvenile in August last year, and although she's much bigger now and seems to be approaching adult size, so far she's shown no interest in mating at all. Maybe margies take longer to reach sexual maturity than some other snails?

Hmm perhaps they'll lay soon now it's getting warmer. My ovums are not interested either. I got hopeful a wee while ago when I found one single egg. Thought a proper batch would soon be on it's way but nope. Now as for Choco - I think she's perhaps playing the right kind of music to get her snails in the mood, her snails are very busy! Yeah I agree with what Choco says. There is one trick that people sometimes use and that is to lower the temperature slightly and let the substrate dry a little for a week or so, then raise the temp again and the humidity. It can sometimes trigger them into thinking it's the breeding season. Margies tend to be seasonal anyway. Good luck
