I'm just going to have a rant about how great calcium blocks are! Watson recieved some shell damage lately at the leading edge near the previous whorl. he had cuttle and some limestone flour on his food but what with various things i hadn't been able to make up the calcium blocks i've started using (fairly recently). I was worried that this did not seem to be healing over particually well, since he continued developing his shell forward but leaving that particular bit behind with a bit of a thing membrane (resulting in an almost S shape.) this went on for a few weeks and i worried it might stay like that. about a week ago i finally managed to make another calcium block and TADA its all healed ;D not as good as new its a little rough but hes back to normal shell development again it's great ;D so the purpose of this rant was: i think its always worth offering many calcium sources especially if recovering from damage. they love their calcium blocks, always rasping on them.

I agree I make some for my tortoises and my 12 snails LOVE them! Totally worth making. Another idea is to sprinkle Limestone Flour on food for extra calcium. It can be bought everywhere!

Some people buy limestone and some make "stones" from calsium powder and water. Make just paste of it with water thick paste and let it dry out easier maybe to storage it, but in humidity it might come after time to paste again so better use some dish under it so it's less messy and you can lift "homemade block" up when you need to do some cleaning in terrarium etc.

Oh, OK. Well mine like their cuttlefish and I add calcium to most of the food if it doesn't already contain it. Like I put crushed eggshell on the food or grated cuttle. If not then I give them courgette and cucumber plus something else like lettuce. I sometimes give them cheese a milk as well.
