I have four Achatina Fulica clutches, well, 3 are hatched and one should be hatching any day now. My dilemma is, nobody will buy a baby snail! I am planning to breed as a hobby, but I cannot keep them all! I would like to be a breeder as well. Is anyone interested?

If you want to be a breeder, then the best advice I can offer is to breed any species but fulica! They are so common that unless you sell them as live food, it will take you quite a while to rehome even the four clutches you already have. I strongly advise you not to let any more fulica clutches hatch unless you have homes (or mouths) prearranged for the babies. There are dozens of species in captivity - pick a less common one and you'll have no problem finding homes for babies

Dusk is completely correct. You won't be able to get rid of all the baby fulica without dumping them on an animal rescue or having to give them away as live food. They are far, far too common as a pet species and as they're so prolific, babies are very easily available. In the long run, it is far crueller to keep hundreds of babies in cramped conditions, struggling to be able to feed them all, and still hatching more clutches, than it is to freeze the eggs soon after they are laid. You're not killing any baby snails by freezing eggs - they are simply eggs, especially soon after they are laid. Alternatively, if you are set on keeping all the eggs that are laid and not freezing any, I suggest doing as Dusk advises and getting rid of the fulica and getting a snail that lays smaller clutches with babies that are easier to rehome, such as margies or tigers.

As always great advice from dusk and choco I started with 4 fulica and now I have lots of adults and fulica eggs and young babies but i have homes for them all with friends and family wanting them I have had about 400 babies go to family and friends if i hadn't i would be over run with them more and more people are looking for the more exotic snails and are not interested in fulica. We have decided to keep the next 2 clutches of eggs and freeze any there after and turn all of our attention to the albopicta, jades, tigers, margies, puys, immacs, jadatzi and rodatzi the rods and jadatzi's because they are my sons. Freezing is best in my oppinion to avoid getting over run.

as above i recently found a clutch of fulica eggs which i froze,i didnt want loads of snaily babies that nobody wanted.if you want rid of them sell as live food for other critters as thats probably the only way youll get rid of them, better than them dying off as conditions arent good or theres not enough food for them all good luck

Other thing could be if enough interest you could get cannibal snails. Their main diet is other snails and babies or eggs. They eat as calsium whole small baby they get their calsium from their thin shells. I'm been wanting those really long maybe I get some in this summer never know.

The albinos are more sought after than the normal skinned but to be honest reading one of your other posts you are asking way way to much for them i sell on other websites and I sell normal fulicas at £1.10 for 2 and they are all a good size they are around 3 months so around an inch. After i rehomed most of mine i had some left over so i tried to sell them, I was selling 10 <1cm for £2.00 They didn't really sell so i kept them to grow on. hope this helps

Hi, Sorry I've been away a while, internet was down. One of my friends from next door took two off my hands, and my wee cousin might like one. My local pet shop wants 20, and some of my mates are thinking :-D
