When posting snails do you mark the package as 'live animals' or just mark it 'very fragile'?

Don't mark live animals on packets etc. In my country it's illegal to send animals in post. One company here was sending against law them and now they have some kind of ban to not do it anymore they didn't made sure is it ok. So now they won't send anything. So people just send "normal" packets without telling what is in them..

Here if we don't mention what is in them and they get damaged you struggle to make a claim thats why i always put live feeder food, Fragile handle with care and for stick insects and mantis i put live harmless insects, That way you are covered. x

Ah but then again snails aren't covered anyhow. Most other invertebrates would be, but not snails. I'm never quite sure whether or not to put 'live feader food', or 'live harmless insects' etc on. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, I keep changing my mind.

My post office won't let me post if it says "live" anything on the packet. I put fragile ets but saying that the last lot of snails I posted very clearly has "fragile handle with care" on the man in the post office was really rought with the packet to the extent I gave him a rght telling off.

Its naughty, On royal mails website it tells you that it is ok to post live animals so they have to take them, My post office is really good and ask me what kind of snails or insects i am sending they are really good at ours. I can see it now him throwing the box they you going mad at him.

Hi,

It's so annoying when they ignore what's written on the packaging. I once saw a parcelforce delivery man in my street deliverying a parcel to my neighbour and when he was in the back of his van he was throwing boxes all over the place, cursing and swearing. My neoghbours parcel was at the bottom of a pile of squashed boxes and lucily for them it was nothing breakable.

Its really bad when you think what they charge. I saw one a few week back he climed out of his van outside my house and dropped 2 boxes I had snails due so was worried it was them, thankfully they were for next door and he went back out for mine, all of our delivery men now ask what i have in them some even ask if they can have a look. x

With me it depends who is taking it down the post office. My folks offer to sometimes, but they worry about a fuss being caused. If its me I write live insects. Anyone who has had critters from me knows I cover the parcel in fragile, handle with care, do not shake etc. Anyone who has had one in the past month knows I've no graduated to writing fragile in giant red or black sharpie letters. My post office is awful. I've had more than once the people behind the counter literally throw parcels across to the back of the room, and get snitty when I complained. I always point out the massive fragile written on it before I hand it to them now. The posties themselves, most are good. One actually comments if I don't have a bug or something when I open the door now. I'm pretty sure its me they call bug lady
