Just wondered if anyone has any photos of margie ovums mating. I moved my remaining snails into a smaller tank today (I'm downsizing my collection due to moving house shortly). I have two big margies and one big tiger left. Just went to give them their dinner, and found the two margies together, with enormous long fleshy string-type things going between them. One was "squidgy" looking and sort of looked like an intestine, and was dangling on the substrate. At first I thought one had had a gut extrusion but when I tried to move them apart, it seemed like it was the sex organ of one or both of the snails. The larger snail was rasping on it. I got incredibly freaked out and went to get my camera, but by the time I got back the fleshy bits had decreased, then the snails retracted into their shells and the horrible fleshy bits seemed to disappear, leaving a big blob of yellowish jelly-type stuff. It occured to me then that I've never actually seen my big margies mate - they usually do it at night when I'm sleeping. I've seen fulica mate before but it looked NOTHING like this - their sex organs were very small and they stayed closely together. This was like 10cm long or so and massive! Was it their sex organs? Is this normal for margies when they mate or was something wrong? They both seem to be OK now but it really freaked me out!
