Hi Everyone,
UGH Intro's I usually suck at these .
Ok well most of you know me from Pet Snails Forum and as the proud Mum of 2 rug rats and the herd of Margie Bulldozers but I have another life besides this as well. I live in Southern Ireland and have had pet Gals for 5 years and Native snails on and off for years. It was ultimately my eldest rug rat who got me into keeping GALS as she was so fascinated by them, and this developed into a joint love of pet snails.
I have a small mountain farm and keep horses which I breed once in a while, sheep, chickens, ducks and geese amongst other animals that turn up both tame and wild. I try to keep it all organic here and manage the everything here ecologically and on a Permaculture type bases. So the wildlife and native flora and fauna is very important here, most of the livestock here as rare breeds as well.
I'm also Artist Blacksmith, Artist and Sculptor hence I have time to be online as I'm my own boss in theory though it seem's at times that everything here owns and runs me . Any how it means I work from home and have some flexibility in the hours I work and when I take my breaks.
Snails wise I have a pretty large collection here which over the next few years will hopefully increase by a few more types or GAlS.
Some of the native snails are being bred for re release as some here are in such small numbers and pockets that they risk inbreeding, this is being done with consent for re release into protected areas to help strengthen and boost native populations as they are tied in so tightly with the eco systems in these areas.
x2 Tiger snails
x2 Albino Achatina Albopicta
x3 Achatina Albopicta
x2 Achatina Reticulata
x4 Achatina Immaculata Immaculatta
x6 Limicolaria Numidica
x6 Limicolaria Flammea
x2 Archachatina Papyracea
x8 Rodatzis / Jadatzi
x5 Archachatina Marginatas
x9 Helix Cinctax
x11 Helix Lucorum
x30 Arianta Arbustorum Adult (+ ? many hatchlings n young)
x125 Cepaea hortensis and Cepaea nemoralis + ? many youngsters.
Like Muddy Dragon I believe in knowing the pedigree of anything I breed be it horse, livestock or snails and making sure anyone who buys any knows this as well. I don't encourage inbreeding of anything I worked to long in horse breeding to see the results of it.
That's about it really and its nothing very exciting.
Hope to see you around the Forum
