This morning I found my jadatzi-rodatzi cross Tauno lying on his side in the tank. I picked him up and noticed his foot was small compared to his shell.
I immediately sat him on a dish of water and cut a slice of fresh sweet potato with a cheese cutter for him. Thankfully he was able to rasp. He expanded back to his normal size within the next 15 minutes or so, which was when I saw that his cheek area looked weird, a bit swollen with debris of some sort sticking out of it.
So, a bad case of post egg laying exhaustion, or was he possibly loved sore by another snail (I'm thinking of the big fat mommy who's twice his size)? I didn't have time to egg check all around the big tank yet, though I will do that asap too. When I last checked over the weekend though he didn't have a clutch inside him.
He went to sleep after eating a good bit of the slice, and made a very unusual sleeping face. A tiny baby woke him up (one of his own I think) and since then he's been awake, snailing around, looking okay enough.
Any thoughts?

Adding my own thoughts - must have been too much sweet lovin' by the Mama. He hasn't had any problems since.

Poor guy he must have been wreaked to be in that state, hopefully with your TLC he's now well on the way to recovery.

Thankfully, he's fine now. It was very surprising to see that even a shrinking snail can recover fully if helped right away. Seems it's a good rule of thumb to carefully check any snail who is on his side or upside down and can't right himself.
