Hello
In a bit of a panic and don't know if I am doing the right thing. I discovered a load of eggies all on top of the substrate today and a rather tired snaily sitting next to them. They were very yellow and bearing in mind the over crowding I have at the moment, I did put them all in the freezer. I am however a little bit concerned about mum so as soon as I saw her I put her on a piece of sweet potato but she showed no interest in eating. She started to climb up the glass towards some condensation so I thought she may be thirsty. I then moved her to where she could comfortably access water and I did see her with her head underneath. Now however she has just gone to sleep and I am wondering if I am going to loose her. I do so hope she is OK. Have I done the right things and is there anything else I can do for my poor Hetty?
Hugs JO xx

Oh no, poor Hetty. You did the right thing helping her get to drink. Take her out of the tank, put her on a dish with lukewarm water on it (like a bath but be sure there's not so much water that it goes in her breathing hole), and offer her as much cooked egg as she will eat in one sitting. I know you just had an egg day but she needs it now. You can mash it up between your fingers if she has trouble eating. Best of luck and lots of hugs.

Your snail was very exhausted and dehydrated, so you just have to nourish it, until it recovers its strength.

Thank you Etana love, yes I did that, I gave her a warm bath, put her near water and tried to get her to eat egg and sweet potato. I really don't know what to tell you now as I have a horrid feeling that she has gone. She has retreated right into her shell and the other snailies are trying to comfort her, there are about 4 or 5 all round about patting her and trying to make her better, it is so sweet. I want to help her to eat but she won't bring her head out so as you can imagine it is a bit difficult. I don't know what else to say really but I am gutted, this poor darling little snaily, I feel so helpless despite doing what I have done. I will keep you updated.

My heart goes out to you and Hetty, Jo. I still hope that her friends' pats will wake her up, but if she hasn't eaten at all, it doesn't sound good.
If she still reacts to touch, you can prepare a very shallow bath with a little dish, and leave her sitting in it (in the tank) with food next to her head.
I'm so, so sorry. *huge hug*

Thank you Etana darling but she has definitely gone, I am so upset. She has retracted right back into her shell and espite comfort from the other snailies, I am afraid it is too late. The poor little love, am I doing something wrong as this is the second fulica I have lost? I now only have Sidney. Thank you so much for your kind words love, I need them at the moment. Chat soon.

I lost a snail tonight too, so I am mourning with you and watching the amazing little ways that snails behave about it, kissing their friend goodbye.
It seems that Sidney had the only successful pregnancy that gave you the little hatchlings.
When I feel a bit better myself, I will go on a research spree to figure out what causes these egg problems. The reasons I can think of are either impossible for your snails, or just so unlikely that there must be something else I am not knowledgeable of. I'm so sorry I can't say more.
My snail died from something else so it's not like we're getting lots of the same problems on snails of the same age either. I will try to find out what is going on and I'll tell you when I have anything new.
