Hi all, I was wondering if I could get some reassurance on my baby snails? They hatched on Jan 29th and 30th, so are about a month old. They're still albino bodied and shelled, which is odd as neither parent is albino bodied and whilst Apollo has an albino shell, Jim is completely non-albino, with no traces in his family either, so that's a bit odd, will it change at all? The snails are both ~2cm in shell length, is this an okaysize or should they be bigger? Thanks!

Many snail breeders would be jealous! The yellow shells will probably stay, however if you see any stripes at all they will grow up stripy. That sounds like a good size to me. Are their eyes black or pink?

They have little black eyes I was thinking they could still be getting their colours but I read that you could tell at about a month?

Here's a photo of Raphael if it's of any help?

Sweet little snailie. Black eyes mean they're not fully albino, could be leucistic though. Snails do sometimes change their foot colour a little as they grow. All my fulica have hatched with some colour on their feet and have at most gotten a bit darker, but the young Margies I got from Zorst last year have changed quite a bit. But hey, you have healthy babies with very light-colour feet and black eyes, they're going to grow up very lovely.

There is nothing wrong with that Picklepies love, it shows you love your snailies as we all do on here. I have had a few scares and will probably have a few more.

Of course we worry about our little friends. Really it's good to ask any questions that are bugging you, so we can help or give reassurance. Keep us updated on the babies!

They were probably a bit shocked as they meet Apollo first, but Jim was very good with them

I am glad they are doing OK love and it amazes me how gentle the larger snailies are with the babies.
