Guess what! I found someone in my region who has been squishing wild snails ( who are eating her plants) but is willing to ship them to me instead! I feel silly, rescuing a pest, but I am so drawn to the milk snails I have that I want to save these little wild ones. It is legal here to acquire them, but it is discouraged to release them. How many should I save? I am going to send her shipping instructions and postage money. I have three additional 10 gallon tanks I can set up and a little larger one. I have 6 milk snails already as class pets, and they are doing well - they come out to eat and socialize (haha) with my students each day.
So... Am I silly? Should I rescue some from squish fate?
Happy snailing!

Oh, I can only say it's up to you! The individual snails surely will enjoy a good life in your care. I've taken in snails from community gardens before.
I find wild caught snails are entertaining, at least the ones here up north have learned how to fight and all due to scarce resources!

What a horrid woman, how can she bear to crush snailies?!!! I am so glad you are taking care of them love. I have no experience of wildies at all except to pick up and pet but they are in for a treat when they realise what a wonderful home they are coming to. No you are not silly hunni, I say a big thank you and I know the snails will. I would like to squish that women though!!! Please keep us updated. When are they expected?
