Sorry for not having been around, though I'm glad to see the forum's been doing ok! There's been some issues with my own and my bf's health etc, even right now I am waiting for the doc to call me back re my sprained possibly broken ankle. I wish I had just one soft and stretchy foot that can't break! Finland's former president Mauno Koivisto just died of old age, and simultaneously my own sweet Mauno looked shrunken and weak! I was afraid they'd leave to the other side together. That'd have been quite a memorable way to go. However Mauno the snail bounced back and refused to let go of my hand when I last held him, he would stick tighter and tighter until he was finally ready to go back into the home tank. One of my young but big Margies did something that made me laugh but shouldn't have. He was sticking to the sliding door of his tank, and as I took the door off, he immediately JUMPED down and rolled away foaming loudly, as if to scream "AHHHH ESCAPE!!!!"! He ended up upside down in the bath tub, tightly in his shell. Poor guy hasn't learned yet that door functions mean pampering, he looks really big but is really still young. I left him a piece of sweet potato for when he finally dared to come out. The wild greens are sprouting ans I can't wait to feed my snails some nettles, dandelions and other things!

It is lovely to see you back Etana love and I am so sorry to hear about your problems. I hope you are both much better really soon. I am so very pleased that Mauno came back to life, I think he wanted a cuddle and pretended to be poorly as kids do. They are such adorable little things aren't they? Oh bless the little Margie, I think he had a panic attack for a moment. Perhaps he was dozing Etana and you startled him lol! My little naughties keep getting under the food bowl so no one else can get anything to eat, I have to constantly remove the offenders. Hugs Jo xx

Thanks Jo! Yeah, we also joke that he felt connected to President Mauno and mourned him! But I'm glad Mauno is looking big and strong again. The Margie was awake, and there was even another, older snail at the door, who just made an annoyed face at me lol! I was wondering, do they have other things to go under in the tank? Like have you been able to get more plastic plants, things that look like caves etc? One would think that being removed from under the food bowl gets so annoying that they'd choose a more peaceful hide!

Thanks Etana love. Yes, they have plenty of plant and foliage to hide under but I am wondering if my tank is still too small for just 5 big snailies. I will worry about this as I cannot possibly get another. It is the same culprit every time though and I do think it may be a ploy to stop everyone else from having a munch before he has. Yes, it is Golly LOL!!

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry to hear about your n your BF's health issues Etana and Im SOOOO glad to hear that Mauno is healthy n active again. I'm still awaiting my suregry date but life here has been far from quiet, relaxed and peaceful.
As some of you know I have a Jackdaw named Mystic well on the back of me nursing him back to health and keeping him my local vets have got me actively involved with wildlife rehab again for them. This has invlved me hand rearing some fledgelings a Black Bird and a Song Thrush. Both are only just fledged and both have injuries from cats. So my reason for not being around so much recently is that Ive been flat out on feeds every 15 mins each day from dawn to my bed time at night for the next few weeks. Add into the sinario that in less than 2 weeks time I have two Raven chicks turning up as well, life will sure get interest real fast.
Anyhow even if im not so active right now its not that I dont think of you and all you snalies, as I do, I'm just tired n wanting to get these little guys weaned so that Im not tied up n they can feed themselves.
Marrow and the gang are doing well though he has now climed the new biggest bath as his pad lol. No one else is allowed into it.
I'll be around but prob wont post much until these little feathered friends have grown enough to free me up some more time.
Z
PS: Just a note to say that its illegal to keep wild birds etc, and to keep any Corvid is illegal, I do have the relevent training and licences to rehabe and re release here and these birds came to me via people handing them over to me or the actual vets.
