Would they? Probably not something most would consider giving their snails due to the fact you'd have to shred it, chop it, or break it down otherwise for most species. I remember telling myself that I'd try it with them someday, but never got around to it! Honestly, I think mine would probably nibble it a little and walk away after.

If I knew they were going to enjoy it love but as you say, they would probably be very blase after you have gone to a lot of trouble to make it nice for them and easy to eat LOL

My snails are very good at tasting everything, but it might be a repeat of what happened with cantaloupe - the adults take a bite, go warn the children (hilarious, shame I couldn't take a video), leave it alone, and when it spoils a bit, the Tiger snail eats it at the darkest hour of the night.

I think mine have a nibble at everything Etana love but it is quite upsetting when I go to change the food and all the best special pieces have been virtually left. I tell them they are very ungrateful and spoilt snailies LOL! I think it is lovely how they go and tell the kiddies but kiddies should make up their own minds which I am sure they do. Tiger snails like something when it is a bit "off" don't they?

Wow, that sounds like a very interesting scenario going on there! The part about the tiger snail sounds much like a nocturnal animal waiting for the coast to be at its clearest, before coming out to make a quick one.

Marrow the monster of course loved coconut so much so he told every other snail that it was deadly poisonouse so they left it alone and he could secret it away into his cave. Then he would share it with the snail who he was trying to woo in his love shack and try to convinse that snail it was the best aphrodesiac ever. I kid you not.
Only poor ole Marrow tried that trick so many times that only the little guys who were still his adoreing fans would'nt eat the coconut all the big one's who had been wooed by marrow of course remembered how nice n tasty the Coconut was. So they would beat Marrow to it in the end and hide it from him lol. Poor ole Marrow would then have to go and hunt down his fave coconut and secret some back to his cave to enjoy in peace.
Just one of the many funny stories about Marrow and his antics that I miss not watching daily lol. His new pet person makes sure he get his fresh coconut and other goodies regulary as do the rest of the gang. There all doing very well and a fat and happy in there new home.

Mine are unbelievably fussy hunni and dance around anything new. They have their cucumber treat once a week and they just eat the middles and leave the rest. Naughty naughty snailies lol! Ha ha, Zorst love, that did make me laugh out loud. I can just imagine one snaily telling another that something is awful so he can hog it. Taking it to his sweetheart is like taking chocolates or flowers. I think that probably goes on a lot in my tank. Poor Marrow, seems to be having a generally bad time when it comes to eating his favourites LOL! This is a great little story Zorst love, thank you for sharing it. I must try mine with fresh coconut. Jo, if your nose allows and you don't get too many fruit flies, leave the food to sit in the tank for a couple days more than before. You'll see that the parts us human think "good" become what snails find "good" and get eaten then, as many snails love it when food is a bit old. Tiger snails love the oldest food, they'll even clean up poops for me (having a very big Tiger snail means almost no poop left for me to clean up even with lots of tank mates!) but many snails are adapted to enjoying leftovers either way. Their tastes are so opposite to ours in some ways, it's weird but that's just how they are. Zorst glad to see someone else has also noticed snails clearly telling each other about which food is good, and even in such a clever way! I'm pretty sure that the snails who warned their young in my tank had good intentions as even they didn't touch it afterwards, but that Marrow is something else hahahah. Have you been to see Marrow since he had to move away?

Thanks for that advice Etana love and I tend to change their food every other day and water every day. Yes I know their tastes are completely opposite to ours and it is well to remember it. I don't have a tiger snail so there are always quite a few poops to be cleaned up. If I am changing their food every other day what would you recommend, leave it for one more day? Thanks hunni.

LOL Yes Etana I see Marrow and his gang quiet regulalrly and the Immacs that I also gave to the Vets assistant who live at the surgery, both are looking really good. Marow is his big blundering awkward n funny self as usual he now has a big dog fod bowl for all his food delitghts and this is placed outside his cave so he can woo his prospective mates and secret them away into his cave which has a bath in it as well lol. One lucky snail he progressed up from a flowerpot cave to a plastic container pent house cave including a pool. The Mafia Snail rules lol, He's ended up nicknamed Marrow the Godfather lol. I get to hear about there antics most weeks when I call by the vets, for the stuff I need to rehab these wild birds. I came home to find that they young Jackdaw the other day had managed to open the lid of one of the old big plastic storange containers that I used as snail tanks. He'd pulled everything out n left it scattred on the floor. Mystery is highly intelligent, super determeind and a litle monster to boot.
But It really made me glad that I had rehomed the Snails after seeing that becuase he'd have thought nothing about hurting or eating them. So as much as I miss Marrow and the gang, I have deffinatly made the right decision. If a small Jackdaw can take the clip down lid off of one of those heavy duty boxes I dread to think what a Raven would have done. Saying that the Jackaws n Ravens are doing well and the Ravens really are growing and their great to have around , but you have to makesure everyone n everything is looked after around them.
