Hello,
As some may know I have 1 Achatina reticulata.
I was looking into getting a Achatina achatina.
My question is.... If I house both of these together is it possible that they will mate?
If it isthen I would much rather house the species seperate from each other.
I appreciate all our dogs, budgies, cats etc etc are hybrids but outwith such pets I much prefer a full pedigree as such.
I am also a fan of keeping F1 & F2 particular for observing the natural behaviour traits but without the risk of some health issues that can arise when keeping WC.
Thanks in advance,
MOA.

Hello, I think they have different reproductive organs, so shouldn't inbreed, and I they do manage it, the eggs won't be fertile

My only other concerns now is that Achatina reticulata is only found in Zanzibar and not on the mainland. So how would both species react with each other? Thanks in advance.

When I kept both species they always seemed fine together, so hopefully yours should be fine too

Its only been a couple of days I have been monitoring the A.achatina and A. Reticulata together but so far both dont really have any interest in each other.
Will be interesting to see if this develops with regards to behaviour.
