I was just wondering what kinds of pets other than snails that you peeps keep! There must be some pretty unusual ones out there! Though I'm interested in hearing about any other pets that any of you have!

I'm only allowed to keep snails by my landlord, though if I could I'd take a chameleon, maybe a hermit crab and a snake. There's a quite big spider catching fungus gnats in a houseplant of mine, the spiddie's my unofficial pet.

Wow Zorst!! That's epic! You have loads I'd also have chameleons, hermit crabs and snakes if I was allowed! And I wouldn't just stop there... I'd be running my own zoo by now if I had my own way!!

Oooooh a tarantula. How cool is that! I just was laughing with my BF over how nice it is to have a big spider in a houseplant, catching pests and generally looking tuff.

My father had a Pygmy Hedgehog until recently she died of old age quietly in her sleep one night. She was a rescue but they really loved each other n were inseparable.

Absolutely love your pet names jo! You've got and have had so many, most of which I would love to own myself... especially an African pygmy hedgehog! I've been pestering my mum for ages to let me have one!! But I already have 7 snails, an uncountable amount of Indian stick insects, a dog, two cats and two chinese hamsters, as well as a snake that's my younger sisters but I look after most the time!! So basically I'm not allowed to get anymore until I move out and get my own place!! I really really want to keep goats as well! I love goats!!

Love your post Kippen hunny and I had the same problem when I lived at home. I would love many more now if I had the rom and the money because being disabled, they can be quite a lot to look after but it is therapyfor me too, as I enjoy giving them their dinners and little treats. African Pygmy Hedgehogs are adorable and it is a pity we cannot try and win our mum around somehow because she would fall in love with him too. Perhaps if you tell her your friend has had one and will help out with any questions. I have had stick insects and praying mantids, they are gorgeous, such sweet little things. Goats are adorable, a friend of mine has an animal sanctuary and the goats give you kisses, there is one who is a bit stroppy but isn't there always LOL! Good luck working on your mum, let me know if I can help LOL!!

Hehe!! thanks jo!! I'll give it a try... think she's pretty dead set against it tho... the only reason she let me keep the snails was because I had already been keeping them for about a month before she even realised... it wasn't even like I was trying to hide them, that would be pretty difficult anyway, but she just didn't seem to notice... by the time she did I had a pretty strong argument!!! Hehe!! Oh well! I'll have them all one day... just keep pushing on up!! And your so right... animals are really therapeutic!! They always seem to be able to pull you out of the dumps when you're feeling down about something!! Especially when they eat because they just look so incredibly happy... it's the simple things in life!!
