Pro: The veggies in my garden grow really well now because all the snails are in my house.
Con: The snails eat all the veggies that I grow anyway.
Everyone thinks I'm even crazier now that I keep "pests" around the house.

This rings oh so true, yesterday the snails collected in the poly tunnel ended up in the house here in a nice new tank to keep them safe thanks to the rug rats. Zorst

Pro: They're easy to look after and more entertaining than fish.
Con: Non snail lovers don't think they are real pets.

Con: Non snail lovers don't think they are real pets. This! I've gotten the question "And then what? What happens to them?" when showing my snails to people. Er, uh, should I ask those people the same question when they introduce their cats and dogs to me, and remind them of a distant country where they're eaten every day? Well, a related pro: My rent contract looks very interesting, because I got an official snailkeeping permission from my landlord.

I love it too I had to do it though, as originally it read "no pets" and she had to be convinced that snails will be harmless to the apartment. Well, that one was easy, as they don't exit the tank on their own and even if they did, it's unlikely they'd do anything dramatic.

I failed to tell the landlord about the snails... I guess they're illegal immigrants

This fits in this thread I think, and I think it's on the "pro" side: My dear Roomie brought a new friend of hers for a visit yesterday, and I happened to be holding my biggest snail right when they walked in. The snail was superglued to my hand and wrapped around my fingers, so what could I do but welcome the friend with a huge snail on my hand and hope it'd be just a funny situation and not an "ewwwwww" one. Well, the friend laughed "ohh the big snail is adorable! So lovely!" Turns out she knew that big snails were a thing, but she'd never met one before.
