Lol this morn, Halonen was snailing around with a baby snail on her shell, and the baby had a smaller baby on him too (so cute hahaha!). And Tauno was running behind them patting Halonen with his eyes, he had a gigantic bulge on his cheek. Halonen told Tauno to go away this time, but I'm sure there will be more eggs soon.

Yeah it's really sweet when the little ones get piggy back rides. There's something strange in the air now, everyone's wooing the wrong snail, not just Tauno. Last night I had a few fulica all stuck to each other's shells forming a sticky, slimy snaily line. Everyone was wooing the snail in front of them, and the first fulica was wooing poor Mauno who got pulled upside down. No one liked the one behind them so soon there were many frustrated snails making disappointed faces, poor Mauno still unable to move as the whole line of frustrated snail was still attached to him. I don't know how long it went on as I had to go to bed, darn!

That is another delight to look out for Etana love, the trouble is I don't think my camera is good enough to take such a shot. Ha ha ha ha, I love your post, they do seem to have got themselves into a bit of a pickle don't they? Oh dear, I hope it was all sorted out. You could have done with a video camera love so you could have seen the result. Hugs JO xxx

Lol yes the tank def needs a surveillance cam, on top of this the hamster house has such weird things happen to it that I'm curious as to who pushes it around.
I think the snails sorted their weird love queue out all right in the end, though Mauno is really lovesick now. I was patting and stroking him (with washed, wet hands) and he looked happy, pushed against my hand and got a bulge. Oh mailman be quick with Mauno's friend!

Oh bless him, when do you think his friend will be here Etana love? I was going to ask, should I keep a spray bottle near the tank so when I handle them my hands are wet? I have been using wet hands from the tap before now but it would probably be easier to have a spray bottle handy and would it have to have treated water in it?. I must admit that I haven't handled them too much as I want them to settle in properly. That it so sweet, his getting a little bulge whilst sitting on your hand. He sounds a very loving snaily Hugs Jo xx

Should be next week, if things go to plan. Ah, he wasn't on my hand, I touched him as he was sitting in the tank. I don't handle my snails much either as they do best in their warm and safe tank, but sometimes I want to feed or bathe someone individually, or a visitor wants to meet a certain individual snail. Yeah a spray bottle is handy to have near the tank. Our tap water is very good and safe to use right from the tap, but having the water sit before using reduces chlorine. I think we discussed this via PM? The spray bottle makes cleaning a bit easier, as you can mist the walls before wiping off poop remains and snail trails, and some snails really enjoy when it rains on them too. When sitting on your hand for a longer time, the snail appreciates staying damp, and I find a spray bottle is good for that as well. The downside is that using it gets the soil wet, and you have to do Squeeze tests to monitor it.

Oh right, trust me to get it wrong hunny LOL!! No I haven't done much handling either so far and it isn't because I haven't wanted to but because I don't think they would want to. Thank you for the spray bottle advice too and I will make sure there is a spray bottle in my bedroom next to their tank. By the time I use it it will be quite sedentary so ideal for spraying. Aha, I haven't given them a spray yet but I must admit it looks as if it could do with a bit of a clean in there, LOL!! A job for tomorrow me thinks.

Sounds good Jo. I realised I haven't posted my Big Fat Mommy's picture in this thread about her! Here she is! Click on the thumbnail for a big version. Tauno (sitting on her shell tip) insisted on coming along, so I let him, lol. Their size difference is quite funny when they decide it's time for some lovin'! Halonen is strange because some days she's green, some days she's red, and yesterday she had both in her main whorl. I don't know how she does it! I feel like putting my hand into the pic and just touching the soft squishy thing that she is. I love my Mom snail.

Thanks both. She is kind of a, um, rough beauty, if you know what I mean? All those dark colours and the wear of the shell (she was like that already when I got her in Dec -14) and then the soft, soft face and yellow eyes. Very different beauty than for example the A. balteata who look like they're dressed in high fashion LOL. I hope I'll have her for a long time!

There are many types of beauty Etana love and it is in the eyes of the beholder. I don't think there is any such thing as an ugly snail. I had to move a snaily today and what a frown before going back into his shell, I think I have just had my first dirty look LOL!!

Very true Jo. Hahaha what a snaily experience you had Jo, it seems yours have been in a surprisingly good mood if you went this long without having that happen. Mine frown at me too when I do tank maintenance, Halonen even bubbles with the "pfffrrrt!" sound when I egg check. I can't help but laugh though, they are so adorable when they're not impressed, poor little dears.

They are more adorable when they are being naughty aren't they love? es, I have noticed bubble blowing when I gently move them and guessed it was a sign of being put out or cross. I love the way it starts with a lovely snaily face and they a grimace and a frown and then in all together. Yes, they are little dears Etana sweetie, I love them so much. Obviously I can't be with them all the time as they are in my bedroom but I haven't noticed any romance yet. I just hope I have the set up right and they are not unhappy about anything. We are getting a larger house very soon. What size would you recommend love for three large snailies? Please accept my apologies if I have asked this before. I am going for the Exo Terra
