Hey guys, my rescue fulica appears to have restarted shell growth, but it's more greeny colour than anything else, is this normal fit snails who stop and restart shell growth? X

Yes, it's normal for new shell to be a bright colour different to the rest of the shell. It might darken out when that part of the shell gets older. If the new shell appears firm and even (save for the 1-3mm of the very newest shell as that's thin), all is well.

The albinos I have in my tank at the moment have pink tips to their shells, it is so pretty. I hope it is alright and not a sign of something being wrong.

Yes of course, I encourage everyone to ask any questions that are on your mind We often are helicopter moms who worry a little bit too much, but sometimes there might be something else going on, and it's always best caught early.

Very nice, he's clearly in good hands now. Is his foot scarred or is it just the light being funny?

It's scarred round the bottom we thinks it's probably due to having decent care before they were sold, and then predating on each other due to lack of calcium and protein, but that's complete supposition x

He is gorgeous love, I just don't like to think of how unhappy he was before but I am so glad he has now found you. That is something else I didn't know, that they will start feeding on each other if there isn't sufficient food, that is dreadful.

Awwww, poor fellow. Yeah, malnourished and stressed animals do things like that, including snails. With snails it's quite rare but not unheard of at all. Here's hoping his scars will heal ok.

I hope so too he's having great fun now, we've moved him in to the big tank with the It her, they haven't stopped sliming round together, so hopefully he'll mend sooner rather thanot later x
