Since it's happening in cycles now, it's no longer explained by the fasting around the most critical shell repair days. And since he's active and eating, he can't be doing too badly. So, I have good news for you helptoall! That's a very good observation of what is currently understood to be snail digestive routine (we're not 100% sure, but it seems like that based on observation). Over at Petsnails the very knowledgeable Morningcoffee replied to a thread that I myself made when I was getting into snail keeping and had an ill snail: So it sounds like even though the above applies to "at least Giant snails", you have noticed the same in a local smaller snail. Good for you!

I think there are little individual differences in how snail intestines work, so it might be more obvious in some snails than others.
I've observed some things myself, such as that only two of all my snails ever get diarrhoea. I don't know why, but they definitely have something going on inside them that others don't. Their tank mates don't catch it or anything.

I think it is the same with we humans Etana love, some are tougher and healthier than others. I have a delicate tummy but I have known people who have never had an upset tummy.

Jo, we probably won't hear about this snail again. I hope he'll have a good life now that he got a second chance, and is climbing up that tree with all his new snaily friends.
