Figured out that Mauno wouldn't eat because he was so tired! He'd stayed up ALL DAY with the dying tiger. His eyes started going in when I had him on a special plate with food.
I returned him to the tank and now I have everything crossed that sleep will help him.

Thanks picklepies...
Wow bad timing from me, yesterday I was so excited to set up some new tanks and help the crowdedness issue in the tank Mauno lives in. I took a few Margies including Iisakki and Grey Nose to another tank, and only now realised that especially Iisakki is Mauno's friend and on top of the death he probably was thinking he had lost his friends too.
I put Iisakki back, and Mauno stretched over to kiss him. I put the rest of the Margies back in there and need to think this over.
Mauno pooped a bit of clear slime, so he's still not eating.

Oh Etana love, I am sitting here in tears, I am so sorry. Mauno kissed Iisakki even though he is not well himself. Please keep us updated.

They all went to sleep in a big pile with Mauno on top, safely under the foliage. So if nothing else, he's with his friends.
Which is very nice, since in the morning he was sleeping against the front doors, in the open, alone.
They really are so sweet with each other and Mauno has always given lots of kisses to old and new friends. I am preparing for the worst but I am really glad to have had him.
President Mauno's funeral is today, too.

Maybe they will, I like the thought.
Mauno the snail is not gone yet though, he's sticking to the wall and his friends, not retracted at all right now. Maybe he'll bounce back again.

Mauno seems better now, he hasn't deep retracted since reuniting with Iisakki. Let's hope he keeps this direction. I still have to watch his eating though. Edit: Ooooh he's eating bell peppers now. Good. Phew. So I lost some tigers, but at least my good old gentle-snail Mauno is still here.

I'm really sorry to read about your snails Pickle Pies, over the years I've had Tigers do this as well.I really do think that it's something inbreed into Tigers Like Etana said. I can only put it down to in breeding somewhere back in there ancestors that just produce some Tigers like this.
Etana I'm also sorry to read about your 2 Tigers doing the same. And I pray that Mauno starts eatting again. Please let us now how he is.

He slept in a safe corner and then just sat there thinking for a very long time, but when I lifted him over to food, he immediately started to slowly rasp on it. I got a honeydew for free because it was starting to rot, he's eating a slice of it right now. There are also mini tomatoes and various mostly dark green lettuces in the tank. I'll get him some meat or egg next week I think. He fasted for so long that I'm afraid his little intestines could be hurt if I fed him too heavily too soon.

Oh bless him Etana love but it does sound as if he is on the mend. I know what you mean about not giving them too much when they haven't eaten in a while. It is the same when people have been starved, they have to be reintroduced to food gradually. I am glad he is enjoying his honeydew, that will provide liquid as well as food which he needs. Thanks for the updates hunni.
Hugs JO xx

The death wave continues, now I only have one albino Tiger left. Bummer... Gaius the big dark Tiger has a massive wound on his tail, I don't know how he got it. The other snails seem ok.
