Thanks picklepies, the last albino is so small that it'll be a miracle if he grows big. The wound is weird, it seems too neat to be a bite mark. Almost like he's injured it when wrestling his huge, heavy shell around. I wish I knew a way to treat snail wounds, but I'll be keeping an eye on him.

Oh no, fingers crossed for the baby! Snails seem like strong sweeties, hopefully he'll heal soon enough, maybe he caught it between the wall and his shell?
I love hearing about his stories, and he sounds like a sweetheart, I do hope he gets well soon! Xx

Etana love I am so very sorry to hear this. They are tricky to treat aren't they as you don't know what can be applied to their little bodies? Lots of love on its way and I hope he heals quickly.

I just simply loved on him last night and the night before, hoping it helps his mood at least (I held him, kept him damp, and sent him positive healing thoughts - I think animals can sense that kind of thing). I also washed his tail very gently with water, but he starts when water touches the wound so I'll leave it alone. He does eat and drink and poop, so that's a good sign.
I think that if his tail heals okay, I'll buy him some new Tiger friends. Not albinos this time, but some good dark footed babies.

Just a little update - both Mauno and Gaius are eating everything in sight. Gaius of course prefers rotten food and poops lol, but he helps me out in keeping the tank clean. I've tried to let him rest his tail but I shall try to get a look at it today if he lets me.

Lol yes, in the wild Tiger snails developed to enjoy foods that other animals left behind, including poo, so they don't have such competition. Even in the tank Gaius will choose rot, if he can.

Isn't evolution marvellous even as far as developing such little creatures to do this type of job? I really don't want to come back as one though Etana love lol!

Indeed it is! Lol, remember that it only is a problem while we're humans hahah, to snails it's gourmet! I once watched a baby snail pick up a poop with his foot edges extended as if to make little hands, and then eat it like it was the best thing all week, his face all ball shaped and eyes nearly touching it. For some reason no humans living here wanted me to take pictures or come watch the joy of the little fellow. Anyhow, we're derailing the thread. Maybe we can leave poor Pumpkin and the other who passed on to rest, and start new threads elsewhere (or continue in the existing ones).

Just want to say hunni, I would love to have seen a video of him doing that. It may be repulsive to us but I would love to see him enjoying himself.

That's the image of a snail in total happiness, I sure didnt mind watching those what other people thought grose events. There's nothing nicer than watching a happy snail munching down on one of his fave foods even if it is other snails poop lol.

Quite agree Zorst hunni, it is like us eating a big steak. I don't mind what they do as long as they are happy.
