Happy Fridays everyone 🖖 Ive just gave the vivarium a spray of dechlorinated water, hence the glass is so wet. Speaking of humidity was having issues with that because these setups are so well ventilated but I managed to get round it by cutting up 2 squares of black oven liner I had and covered the 2 squares at the front of the hood, basically sitting on top of the mesh. My humidity is now holding a very good 80% continously with still really good ventilation, folks whom have exoterras will be able to picture it a wee bit better. Its took some time but finally these guys are developing a friendship, two days in a row they have been sleeping together... And apologies for bad pictures I should have took them before I sprayed the place. After getting some good advice... I also decided to remove the rocks from the enclosure just incase they fall. Enjoy your weekend folks, MOA.

I am really glad to read and see they're finally becoming friends. That took a surprisingly long time though! I guess you happened to end up with two snails who both are very wary of other snails at first. Some are the opposite, they run over to strangers for a hug and a kiss! Keep us posted!

That is so sweet Etana love, all mine appear to get on really well although there are a couple of greedy ones who always get to the food bowl first and I have to watch out for that. They do look after the youngsters well and if I were to make any introductions, I think my snailies would hug and kiss the newcomer.

Today I am proud to say we have a new addition to the family, a baby Achatina zanzibarcia. I dont have a name yet and measures in at only a centimetre in size. The little tip is starting to show some red and its just popped its little head out as we speak! Currently in quarantine plus its far too small to go in with the other 2 snails. Will get some more pictures up when it settles in a bit. All the best, MOA. 🐌

He sounds adorable MOA hunni, I would love to see him. As you say though, give him time to settle in, it must all seem very strange to a little baby's eyes. Sorry love, I couldn't access the pictures.

By the way, I have to point out something. Your tank is very pretty, but the snails need places to hide in. I see the tiger snail has tried to dig, but did he hit the glass bottom of the tank, or am I seeing it wrong? He needs to have enough soil somewhere so he can dig a tunnel, doesn't have to be the whole tank bottom, but at least a pile in a corner that he can dig into. Plastic plants (or real ones, if you're up for it), plastic flower pots, and little hides made for hamsters made out of plastic or coconut shell (or wood too, but not ceramic or pine!) will work very well and reduce stress for your snails! Edit: I see you had a hiding place in the tank earlier, did they outgrow it? That's of course a reason to remove it from the tank. I found a huge hide similar to that one from a fish tank supplies store. Wasn't cheap, but it can sit in the humid tank very well since it was made for sitting underwater.

Yeah I am currently looking for new hide they out grew it.
Under the soil is a weed cover and underneath that is couple inches of bio balls to help keep it more oxygenated plus I am thinking of going bioactive again...springtails etc.
I do need more soil as I undercalculated it but more is on the way 👍
Edit: gonny send me a link if you can find one for that hide you got?
Ive been looking at ways of making it look more natural as it still looks very clinical.
Im thinking of adding some kind of drip system and line mosses etc.
What tall plants do you suggest that they wont try and eat?

I am going to look really daft here love but how do I refresh and web page? I have never done that before. I am sorry to be so stupid.
The next time we have a cleanout I will put more coir in. They do have enough at the moment but it would probably make them happier to have twice as much. I have a couple of plastic vines which they love and sometimes some of them will be cuddled together under the vines and it is so cute.

No question is a daft question in my eyes Jo basically highlight the webpage address and hit enter, should refresh it or try a different Web browser like Google Chrome 👍 Well the good news is I found half a block of coir so I have created a heap for the Achatina achatina to burrow over in the far right hand corner (bottom pic) to the right of the Achatina zanzibarcia nursery, some stones round it to make it easier to see. When I get more soil in I will probably make another heap at the back of the vivarium wall and going round the corner of the nursery also. I also picked up a plastic feed bowl designed for kittens as they again have out grown the original, £1.50 in morrisons I put some stones in so it doesn't topple as easy. I will be looking tonight for some leaf litter, usually get it for aquariums and some form of decor to try thicken the top up a bit as its a very tall vivarium as much ad its wide. Tonights dinner is Kale, courgette, carrot and spirulina flake....even I would eat it lol.
