An Achatina immaculata pair kissing and caressing each other in a wet tank leads to strange photos. Attachments:

A while ago, I filmed over six minutes of almost continuous stretchy snail dance. Sorry it's shaky and has no meaningful sound, it's only filmed with my phone, but I hope you like it anyway.

Thank you very much Jo. I agree, I was lucky to catch this on video. I also think it deserves to have music edited into it. I just need to decide on a song.

I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted in this thread! Here's my very handsome Gaius last night:

A grumpy baby snail and the reflection of my pink pajamas makes for an accidentally interesting photo, lol.

Gaius is just gorgeous hunni. How do you know when they are grumpy, do their little mouths go all crooked?

If you zoom in to look very closely at the center of his face, you will see it's just like a symbol lol. It's very hard to get a good photo of it because they never have the best face for long - and the one time Iisakki had it for minutes, I felt much too weird about it to take a pic!

I zoomed in and could slightly make it out Etana love, what a face indeed lol! When they are out they are changing their expressions all the time aren't they, so I know how hard it must be to get a photo of a certain face lol!

Yes Jo, indeed their expressions change so much, it's so nice to see but difficult to capture. The next photo could be better as a photograph, but the situation was so lovely, I had to take the pic through the glass so I wouldn't disturb them: (Click for a big version) Iisakki touches his new baby very carefully with the edge of his foot as they both drink from the bath. I've seen this happen so many times with mature snails and the hatchlings in the same tank - the adult touches the baby just a tiny little bit, so they're surely both aware of each other. Originally the baby was next to the water first, then Iisakki went to drink too and slowly spread his foot to touch the baby once he was near. That's Grey Nose is on the right, thinking of bathing/drinking as well. He's not so grey at the nose anymore but he's still a different shade of white to Iisakki. With those parents, it's quite curious that I had a dark baby hatch, lol.

They are adorable Etana love, what a beautiful picture. One of the many things I love about snails as they rarely pick on those who are weaker and smaller than themselves. As you have described, they sometimes even help them and take them under their wing so to speak. I would love a couple of hatchlings from either the Albinos or the Fulicas. No one has laid any eggs for a while though but I am sure they will soon.

Look at this little baby. Almost like I have had Seppo born again to my tank. This guy, too, is the only dark skinned one in the middle of white siblings. If he survives babyhood I will give him the name that was Seppo's nickname, Bo-Seb. Attachments:

He is gorgeous darling, thank you for sharing him with us. What is that he is tucking into is it a green bean? I don't know if I mentioned I tried mine with cauliflower and broccoli and they really weren't impressed, spoilt snailies lol! It is better now that I only have 5 and three babies, I am going to get some flowerpots soon so they can have some privacy. To be honest I am not very good at this sort of thing but want to make the tank look nice. My priority is to give them somewhere to hide and call their own. They are quite gregarious and seem to love each other but everyone wants to be on their own sometimes and need a bit of me space.
