Interesting thread and some great comments.
Its late night reading for me so please excuse if I missed this bit but what species of mites are being wiped out?
Is it parasidic species such as Riccardoella limacum or is it a non parasidic membersuch as Dermatophagoides, Euroglyphus etc etc?
I am not a acarologist but I do find them fascinating.

I hate parasites. They say everything on the earth has a purpose, I have always failed to see what any use a parasite is apart from being a bloody nuisance!

They have no purpose MOA hunni except to bring pain to other so called hosts (hate that word, for me, it make them sound invited). If I could be totally rid of one thing on this planet, parasites would be the ones.
