Bless him, it is a bit like having your dinner in bed but it is probably a lot more comfortable for them than it is for us LOL! He is gorgeous hunni, thank you for the super photo.

Etana, Darius is stunning and looks like he may get to the size of his imfamouse relative the Great Marrow. So glad to see a photo of him , you made my day there. Your snails really are a credit to you.
Marrow is still doing wll in his new home apparently 2 eggs hatched but I've yet to get over and visit them.
Anyhow I hope that your feeling better and all is ok with you.
Have a Happy New Year and year ahead, I'll hopefully be back online properly soon when they complete replacing all the phone lines that were damaged in the last Hurrican.

Thanks for the kind words Zorst. How big is Marrow, did you measure him? Darius seems so massive already! He has a perfectly white smaller sibling (with black eye spots, so not albino) who got the name Augustus yesterday, we're getting all obsessed with naming our snails after great historical people lol. Darius gets so much kisses in the tank, and reciprocates so few.
My health is better than it was 3 months ago, but small things can really throw me off and I can't study or work. I've been doing a lot of knitting so I have something challenging to do without pressure.

Ahh I missed a fantastic opportunity for a photo, with Darius getting big kisses on his cheek but making the most frustrated scrunched up face! I really need to keep the camera at hand more when I look into the tank.

Click for big version. Here's one of my prettiest snails, he has a tan foot and a hint of blue on his big soft face. He's like a strange combination of the late Seppo and his sibling Grey Nose (who is still around). We jokingly call him Eulalia Tokugawa, but then again the unique snail needs an unique name, right? He is gorgeous hunni, thank you for showing us this gorgeous picture. He certainly is very pretty and I agree, he deserves an unusual name but what does it mean, please? He looks as if he is enjoying his lunch too.

Eulalia is a name I saw in the 90s TV show Jeeves & Wooster, it's a lady's name but with snails you can use any pronouns, so he can very well still be a he, haha. And Tokugawa was once the leader of Japan, a very long time ago. I think Eulalia will be the name that this snail mostly goes by, it is nice to pronounce. And indeed he ate on my hand. Not all my snails do, even though they otherwise are trusting, stick tightly to my palm and give me snaily kisses and eye stalk pats. I'll add another photo right now, because this was just so sweet. Click for big version, though it's blurry because I took the photo through the glass. It's Gaius, sleeping in the bath, his foot completely outside his shell. He does this now and I just can't help but take pictures. Just as I was typing this, Eulalia rasped him and made him retract. I of course grabbed him and moved him away from poor Gaius! Naughty snail!

I loved Jeeves and Wooster Etana love. It is hard to believe that it is the same person playing Dr House in the medical drama. That is a lovely name, ladies tended to have beautiful names then and I think Eulalia is really nice. I must admit I prefer it to Tokugawa. It is hard to get mine to even come out on my hand sometimes, I am trying with a couple of the babies at the moment and hope they soon learn to trust me.
That is a lovely pic of Gaius, talk about relaxed. Golly and Sidney tend to sit in the water bowl and hog it so at night I am always having to top it up so that the others can have a chance. They go to sleep in there without a thought for their fellow snails LOL!

That is a wonderful photo Etana sweetie and I just love his little eyes. Mine make a nasty noise when I wake them up and if they are at all out of their shell at the time, they make a horrid face at me. They are such little characters, I love them. Seriously sweetie, that photo is wonderful with cuteness overload.

Yes Jo, I've also used that photo many times for proving to people that snails can be very expressive! I re-did most of my big tank last night, and had the top of the tank open. Eulalia was quick to check whether it was interesting to peek out, pushed up one eye like a tiny periscope, and then obviously decided on a "nah, I like my bath better". Though 1/3 of the way down, he decided to climb back up to peek out once more just in case, which was when I took some photos. Then he returned down. Eulalia seems interested in being high in tank hierarchy. He's very active and often the first to check on new things. He is also stunningly pretty. Attachments:

He is gorgeous Etana and I think he knows it. Thank you so much for showing him to us. They are very curious little creatures aren't they and are constantly scared of missing something? Mine seem to prefer their bath to just about anything else but Golly and Sidders seem to hog it all the time so I have to make sure everyone has a turn LOL! They have also taken to lying under the food plate so it is difficult for anyone else to have a meal. Hugs Jo xx
