I was wondering if my snails would be happy in the smaller tank that i have. I was thinking about keeping some other terrarium animals and maybe move my snailies to the smaller exo terra that i have. They are only with 5 so it's not like it will be over crowded.

I think it all depends on how much smaller it is hunni and the size of the snailies.

I think it all depends on how much smaller it is hunni and the size of the snailies. Hugs Jo xx The tank is 30x30x30 and they are regular cepaea snails and 2 helix a. So not that big Takes me a while to find them all in the big tank. According to the calculator on petsnails, there can be 14 cepaes in a tank like that.

They should be fine then love, as long as they have room for some private space. I am still waiting for the majority of the ones I have to be collected as I am looking after them for someone so conditions are a bit cramped in my snaily home at the moment. They do seem to like to be together sometimes though, they are very tactile little beasties which is one f the things I love about them.

I don't worry as much about eggs now. The dirt is shallow all over. I provided a LOT of moss spots and i can just look beneath the tank on the bottom to spot eggs. It's not as heavy as my big one. Makes it more easy to clean as well. And that's a good thing with snails and slime. I think a tank like this is just waaaaay better for snails. I can clean the doors pretty quick now. With the sliding doors, there was always a part that i couldn't reach unless i took them out.

I think this has all worked out for the best love, it is easier for you and snailies are happy. I clean the glass most days as they are such mucky-pups and I like to be able to see them at night when they are having a feed and a drink and generally climbing all over each other. I know what you mean about only being able to clean part of sliding doors, they are a pain in that respect.

Mine are actually active during the day as well. They don't seem as nocturnal as they say. I clean the sides once a week but the doors when they look dirty.

So, my two tiger snails were long overdue their private quarters... my retic clan is quite large (in size and numbers) now and they're very boisterous. My tigers are more timid and needed their own space. I've given them a nice 90x45x30cm tank with a waterfall (popular) and more space to chill. It's difficult to get good photos given its quite low.

Looks nice they have plenty of space. They sure are big snails compared to mine.

Thank you eibhlin. Have you ever been tempted by larger snails? No not really. I see them a lot on reptile fairs and then i go watch them. But i'm a softy and wouldn't be able to destroy the eggs all the time. That's why i stick with native snails so i can just put the eggs outside.

What a super set up love, a real snaily des res lol! I too hate to destroy the eggs, Sidney laid a load last week and I had to freeze them. I am hoping a couple are going to survive as I have never had any hatchlings, but I don't think they will.
